Final Print Product - Panel 1 (Jess)

Panel 1:

Before:

After:

This panel is the first you see when opening the digipak, therefore it was essential to make it interesting and creative, whilst still linking in with our theme of weather. As you can see, the season I have chosen to focus on here is Autumn. I began by taking a wide range of photographs, including close ups, long shots, high shots etc.  I chose this particular photograph because of it's angle, with it being a low shot it looks up to Conor, creating the impression of him being strong and dominant, powerful and in charge.

After cropping the image to the right size for the digipak, using the 'Lasso Tool' I separated Conor from the background and then deleted the latter, thus making this a layer on it's own. Then I created another layer of leaves, used from previous parts of our ancillary task and our research. Once done, I 'overlapped' the layers, creating the effect you see above, almost like a suit of leaves. This fit well with my theme, however the colours weren't bright enough and so I controlled the colour levels making them appear more orange and red, linking better to my season of choice. This then left me with the edited image of Conor, however a plain white background didn't look right for the finished panel. Using the same image of the leaves, but editing the colour levels, I created a pale cream look background which allows Conor to stand out, whilst still looking creative.

This then left me with the finished image above. I'm happy with the finished panel as I think it fits in with the chosen theme, season and branding for our project quite well. It allowed me to experiment with Photoshop more and thus developed my editing skills further from last year's AS media coursework.
